Projects at the centre nautique are drawn together by their use of the internet: as a material support, a point of departure, or a diffusion tool. Developing from this common ground an ongoing series of projects, called Ports, are envisioned for the future.
Ports are the ‘offline’ apparitions of the centre nautique. They serve as a means to ground the centre nautique in diverse temporary environments: Ports are anticipated to take place in venues such as artist run centres and galleries, libraries, community centres, university and fine art campuses, etc. Ports may be composed of workshops, exhibitions, group discussions, presentations, etc.
In the broadest sense the objective of the Ports are two-fold. Firstly, their aim is to open a dialogue around a particular topic in a specific place and during a prescribed period of time. Secondly, they provide a space for experimentation and development concerning the obstacles and differences of making manifest online projects in offline spaces.
